Volunteer Roles
Pick the spot you will enjoy the most!
Haunts of Littleton Tour Guides are responsible for escorting each Tour Group (25-30 guests) from the Train Depot to our 7 Haunted Story locations along the streets of Littleton. Adult Tour Guides will be paired with 1 mature "Ghost Scout" who will posted at the end of the tour group & help keep everyone together. We run 11 tours every night but we only need 8 Adult Tour Guides (3 of the Tour Guides will do 2 Tours each night and the other 5 will do 1 tour each, see signup list for details)
Tour Guides & Scout Ghosts will be given a make-up kit so they can do their face makeup at home this year. We have many period/turn of the century costume pieces available which can be checked out in mid-Sept @the Troop Meetings Thursday Nights. Or you can create your own from black, white & gray period type clothing from thrift store articles. Wear comfortable shoes!
Guides meet each Haunts night at 6:15pm at the Littleton Train Depot ready to get their lanterns & Tour assignments.
The Scouts add to the spookiness of the night by haunting the sidewalks along our Tours or the actual Story Sites as ghosts from yester-year (pairs of 2 min.). Some of our older/mature Scouts will assist the Adult Tour Guides.
Scout Ghosts & Tour Guides will be given a black face mask & make-up kit so they can do their face makeup at home this year before they arrive. (Remember no gore!) We have many period/turn of the century costume pieces available which can be checked out Thursday Nights at the Troop Meetings or you can create your own from black, white & gray period type clothing from thrift store articles. Wear comfortable shoes!
We meet at the Downtown Littleton RTD Light Rail Station at 6:15 each night where each Scout Ghost will check in with our Ghost Wranglers (Scout Masters) for their haunting assignment & all the FUN!!!
If your Scout is REALLY not interested in dressing up, they can still help out so don’t have them sit at home while you are having all the fun volunteering!
This small group will help us create the "Haunts mood" at the Littleton Train Depot each night in teams of 2-3 by setting-up the ticket table & tent, Haunts posters/decorations, spooky music & the Tour staging areas. Later after the Tours finish, different members of the team take-down all our Haunts gear at the depot.
Our Costumes & Makeup Team is responsible for the "turn of the century/period" attire & make-up our Haunts of Littleton Storytellers, Guides & Scouts Ghosts wear each night.
The Costumes & Makeup Team will meet as needed based on a schedule set by the Team Leader to organize & prepare our costumes & makeup kits. Other than that, this Team will staff a costume/makeup distribution table at Troop Meetings (2 per night) prior to the Haunts so Adults & Scouts can checkout attire from our Haunts wardrobe. Then we will have a "returns" table during the Troop Meetings after the Haunts to receive back the costumes so they can be washed & then stored for the next year.
Finally, because this group does a lot of "behind-the-scenes" work for the Haunts nights, you DON'T have to wear a costume or make-up. Many Parents consider this a "perk" of being on this team.
This year we're adding new Make-Up artist positions on the four Haunt nights to help scouts and parents make their make-up look extra spooky.
Do you like to tell stories? Are you animated, an extrovert, charismatic? If so, Haunts of Littleton has the perfect job for you...storytelling. Let Amanda Brascia know if you are interested in sharing a story. This role is the heart of our event.
Our Ticket Sales Team confirm our guest's online Haunts of Littleton ticket purchases & coordinate with the Tour Guide Team to organize each Tour Group during the 4 nights of The Haunts. There are also positions for merchandise sales and hot cocoa distribution on site.
This Team may also occasionally sell tickets on-site the day of the Tours based on availability. This can be done via the customer's phone via our website & ticketing application. Due to the ticketing process & customer interaction, we prefer if only Adults sign up for this Team please.
These volunteers will be at the Train Station each night from 6:00 pm to 8:30pm to help decorate then take on their role.
Finally, unless you want to, Ticket Sales Team members DO NOT have to wear a costume or make-up. Many parents consider this a "perk" of being on this team.
Any questions please contact our Haunts Ticket Sales Team Leaders - Carly Sigafus carlysigafus@gmail.com and Pam Lee pamelaleesf@comcast.net
The photography team is responsible for taking photos and videos during the event.
We are looking for parents and scouts to take photographs and short videos of all of our guides, story tellers, and ghosts. Volunteers are needed every night so we can get photos of all of our volunteers and locations.
Photo team members are encouraged to bring their own unique ideas and styles to this project.
Goals:
Capture photos and videos to help promote the haunts next year
Capture photos and videos to help recruit new scouts to 444
Capture photos and videos to share with scouts and their families
Create a digital photo album each year for 444 families

Come get the word out! This team (both adults and scouts) will help pass out flyers at local events and hang posters in Merchants Windows. Teams will split up to cover zones of the event that we are attending. Some of the events we distribute flyers at are... Walk the Chalk (), Summer Concert Series (), Final Fridays (), and the Littleton Fair ().
Its best if we are in costume & makeup to help promote the "Haunts feel" & show people a little of what they'll be getting but it's not necessary.
We may have a few more events that will be that are TBD & Taryn Nysse will communicate the details. Send a text / email to Taryn to volunteer for this role (651) 895-3265 taryn.nysse@gmail.com
Every October the Merchants of Downtown Littleton kick-off the start of Fall & Halloween by setting up 8-10 themed "Pumpkin Pole" stands that are decorated by the merchant's. These stands are set out along the downtown streets up on the sidewalks for all of the residents & shoppers to see to get into the "Spooky Mood" of the season. In past years the themes have ranged from The Munsters, to Peanuts to Star Wars to Stranger Things.
Once again Troop 444 has volunteered (in the form of a Service Project) to use our Scout Spirit & strong backs to give back to our Littleton community from the Downtown Merchants to the residents & shoppers in 2024.
We will need some of our stronger Scout's help to do this as the metal Pole Stands weigh a few hundred pounds each so that they don't tip over when decorated on the pedestrians. So, those Adults & Scouts who volunteer for this Service Project should be able to lift at least 50 lbs. or more to help load, transport, set-up and then ultimately take-down & return the Pumpkin Pole Stands.
We will do the Set-Up part of the Service Project on Sat October 4th from 10a-1pm and then the Take-Down step will be done (after Halloween & cleanup on the poles by the Merchants) on Saturday November 1st from 8-10am. Volunteers should wear work clothes, sturdy, closed toe shoes & have work gloves.
This is a wonderful way for our Troop to GIVE BACK to the Littleton community for all they've given us as a Troop & especially for our Annual Haunts of Littleton Fundraiser!

Do you have special talents or interests you think could help make Haunts even better? We have many parents helping in more specialized roles such a check-in and ticket sales, video documentation, web page management, and more. Reach out to a fundraiser leader to talk about other roles you can take on this year or in the future.
We are all parents of scouts. It's important that we have new parents involved to keep the event running far into the future.
